Writing is the main way you communicate with the people you provide training for. Course descriptions should inspire people to sign up. Clear learning outcomes show people what to expect from training. Helpful emails make logistics a breeze.

Did you know that by far the best way to write effectively at work is by focusing on what your readers need? Plain language is the international discipline that describes a reader-focused writing style.

Colleen Trolove helps people revolutionise their writing with plain language. If you're sick of low course take-up, endless questions about whether a course is right for people, and late - or no - responses to your emails, come along. This talk could transform your world.

Competency Framework: L&D Practice, On the job Training, Assessment, eLearning.

    Speaker:

    Colleen Trolove

Colleen has been a trainer, coach, writer, and editor in plain language for the last 15 years. With Miraka Davies, she co-owns the online School of unProfessional Writing.

She has read well over 10,000 pieces of writing from workshop participants over the years. This bird’s eye view of New Zealanders’ work-related writing confirms that simple, clear communication is by far the best the way to go.

Colleen can run 22 different workshops, from presentation skills to critical thinking to writing for lawyers.

She’s judged the USA ClearMark Awards, the USA Federal Report Card, the New Zealand Science Communicator Awards, and she’s helped jazz up the WriteMark New Zealand Plain Language Awards by singing at four of the awards ceremonies!

Writing great scenarios is no longer something that Learning Designers are 'good at' or 'not good at'. For those of us who don't see ourselves as gifted writers, the good news is that AI can help - as long as you use it wisely. This will be a hands-on session, where people can follow along on their own devices, and we'll demonstrate ways to use AI tools to craft great interactive scenarios. We'll co-create some scenarios together, and provide participants with guidelines to take away.

NETWORKING AND COLLABORATION: The HAMILTON Morning Edition

Join us for our regular breakfast gatherings with fellow professionals in the Waikato who share your passion for learning. It's the perfect opportunity to expand your network, exchange experiences, and discover the latest happenings in your field.

As we enjoy our morning coffee or breakfast, let's engage in stimulating conversations that will broaden our perspectives and inspire us for the day ahead. This is more than just a meet-up; it's a chance to connect, grow, and be part of a community that values knowledge and collaboration.

We have chosen Cafe Fresca, 78 Alison Street, Hamilton Lake. The parking is easy, the food and drinks are great, the staff are friendly and we have the tables reserved, so we hope to see you all there
