The brain is designed to forget! So how can L&D Practitioners make learning sticky?

To cope with the enormous volume of data bombarding the brain every day, it is designed to ignore anything not ‘tagged’ as important. The good news is that this natural process of forgetting helps avoid information overload, but the bad news is that it negatively impacts learning and recall.

For L&D Practitioners, a critical capability when designing and delivering learning experiences is knowing how to offset this process and ensure participants’ brains recognise what’s important.

Join Loretta Mitchell from Neu Perspectives as she shares the latest neuroscience that sheds light on the specific conditions and deliberate actions required to tap into the brain’s memory processes to build long-term recall.

In this webinar, you will build knowledge of:

    • How the brain forms memories
    • 8 key techniques to tag new information as important
    •  Essential differences in building knowledge recall vs behaviour change

    Key Takeaways:

    •  Identify the four stages to embed new information into memory
    •  The ‘Sticky8’ – 8 key techniques to make learning sticky
    •  Transfer plan for strengthening memory through retrieval activities

    Presenter:

    Loretta Mitchell

As Director of Neu Perspectives, Loretta is a big believer in the powerful role organisational neuroscience plays in driving effective learning, leadership, performance, and engagement. Loretta shares the latest science to help explain the ‘why’, not just the ‘what and how’. This approach supports leaders, learning professionals, and employees in creating a foundation for approaching workplace interactions, processes and challenges with greater confidence and effectiveness.

Loretta’s own ‘why’ is to help create positive workplaces where the organisation and its team members can thrive. She leverages her L&D expertise in extensive program design and delivery, along with L&D strategy and team management, having held roles at the national and international level in L&D and People & Culture across Asia Pacific, the UK and US.

Unlock the Future of Learning Evaluation

Join us for an exclusive webinar introducing the High Impact Evaluation (HIE) methodology—a breakthrough approach that is transforming how organizations measure, maximize, and demonstrate the value of their learning and development investments.

For decades, traditional evaluation models have offered limited guidance, relying on outdated “smile sheets” and reactive metrics that fail to drive real improvement. High Impact Evaluation, developed by internationally recognized experts Dr. Lynette Gillis and Allan Bailey of the Centre for Learning Impact (Canada), marks a new era in training evaluation. This evidence-based, predictive, and proactive model empowers organizations to:

    • Align training with business strategy and outcomes through Business Impact Mapping
    • Detect risks early with field-tested indicators and “early warning radar”
    • Diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced diagnostic tools
    • Implement targeted solutions from a curated catalog of best practices
    • Engage leadership with executive-friendly dashboards and actionable insights

Adopted by leading organizations worldwide—including Harvard Business Publishing, Coca-Cola, Emirates Airline, MIT, Boeing, Capital One, and over 26 Canadian federal departments—HIE is the gold standard for driving strategy, impact, and continuous improvement in learning.

Who Should Attend? This session is ideal for learning and development professionals, HR leaders, training managers, and anyone seeking to ensure their learning programs deliver measurable business value.

Competency Framework: Adult Learning Principles, Learning and Development Practice, Evaluation, Instructional Design, Assessment, Coaching, Facilitation and Social Learning

Session Theme and Audience: In My Kete and Learning Leaders

    Speaker:

Dr. Gillis is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Performance and Learning and the author of “Quality Standards for Evaluating Multimedia and Online Training” (McGraw-Hill, 2000). She has conducted hundreds of evaluations and is co-author of the forthcoming “Handbook for High Impact Evaluation: Predictive Proactive Training Evaluation.”

    Allan Bailey
Allan Bailey is CEO of the Centre for Learning Impact and a leading measurement and evaluation professional in Canada. With Dr. Gillis, Allan has pioneered workshops and consulting services on evaluation, impact mapping, and assessment. He authored the comprehensive research study “Connecting the Dots… Linking Training Outcomes to Business Outcomes and the Economy” and contributed to “Quality Standards for Evaluating Multimedia and Online Learning.” Allan’s expertise has helped organizations worldwide adopt HIE as a foundation for enterprise evaluation strategy.
