Powerful Work
Why meaning matters when beating burnout

Preventing burnout is hugely topical and often focusses on the “usual suspects” like managing workload, setting boundaries and building resilience. But what if there is another side to this conversation?

For those of us working in Learning & Development, our work can be demanding, but it can also be incredibly energising.

Helping someone have a breakthrough, seeing a leader grow, learning something new or knowing that our work has made a genuine difference can give us a powerful sense of purpose and connection – and this can be instrumental in preventing burnout.

This informal session explores how we might consciously create more of these moments in our working lives by paying attention to the work that gives us energy and finding small ways to do more of it.

Drawing on ideas from The Great Recharge and the Crafted Career Programmes, the session connects strongly with Manaaki Tangata (Nurturing Our People) by exploring how caring for ourselves, staying curious and continuing to learn can help us remain energised and effective in our work

A session for people who spend their working lives helping others learn, grow and thrive - and who deserve to recharge too..

AGENDA:

5:30 - 6:00pm:  Networking, both in-person and online

6:00 - 7:00pm:  Presentation and Q&A with Kathryn Jackson

Competency Framework: Adult Learning Principles, Coaching, Facilitation, Learning and Development Practice.

Speaker: Kathryn Jackson

Kathryn Jackson is a leadership coach, facilitator, author and founder of Career Balance, with more than 30 years’ experience exploring what makes work meaningful, motivating and sustainable. Her career began in corporate HR and L&D with organisations including Andersen’s, Bank of Scotland and Ernst & Young, and has evolved into a fascination with the human side of performance: what gives us energy at work, what takes it away, and what helps us do work that matters.

With a Master’s exploring Motivation at Work, Fellowship of the CIPD and Senior Practitioner accreditation with the EMCC, Kathryn combines research, practical experience and a healthy dose of curiosity to help people and organisations create more energising, purposeful workplaces.

She is also the author of Resilience at Work and founder of the award-winning The Great Recharge..
